SUMMER SCENT

Synopsis:The story starts with Yoo Min Woo(Song Seung Hun)& Shim Hae Won(Son Ye Jin) meeting in a coincidental encounter in the beautiful mountains of Korea.Both instantly hit off well as Min Woo helps Hae Won with a small injury.Min Woo realises that in many ways Hae Won resembles his first love,Un Hae which unwillingly makes him attracted to her.After the encounter they both go their own ways.Now other characters come in the picture as Hae won is already having a perfect and loving fiance,Park Jung Jae(Ryu Jin)who is also her best friend from childhood & her first love.Jung Jae is both caring & loving who is the director of a big hotel in Seoul.Hae Won being an orphan has been living with Jung Jae's family eversince.Also Hae Won's best friend happens to be Park Jung Ah(Han Ji Hye) who is Jung Jae's younger sister.Eventhough Hae Won & Jung Jae are always supposed to get married,Hae Won quite sometimes doesn't see him as the man she truly loves.Still her feelings remain unexpressed as she feels herself burdened by his & his family's love & help.Jung Ah suddenly returns from Italy announcing that she has fallen in love with her friend there who has returned Korea recently.After sometime it is revealed that Jung Ah's so called boyfriend is non other than Min Woo.Also Min Woo has recently won a bid for a resort renovation project under Jung Jae's Family's hotel.Now all four of them Jung Jae,jung Ah,Hae won & Min woo have to work together in the beautiful Calla Resort in the countryside of Korea.Min Woo being The art director & Hae Won being the florist have to work together for the project.Thus A whole set for perfect love triangles is set as Min Woo & Hae Won have already fallen in love.But a big twist awaits for them as Min Woo comes to know that Hae Won who once had a weak heart since childhood had a heart transplant recently.When the secret is revealed about the donor of the heart Min Woo & Hae Won have to struggle to keep their love alive in the storm.....

My Review
Eventhough I've recently finished watching the drama,I had an idea about the drama before.For Me at first it was the most uninteresting drama of the 'Endless love' series.But when I came to know that my Fave actress,Son Ye Jin is in the drama,I forced myself to see it.Surprisingly,despite the bad ratings & reviews this drama continues to be one of my most favourite dramas.I felt the romance factor in this drama is not only soothing but also plesant and at the same time entertaining.It clearly potrays innocent love in the most beautiful way.The main plus points are the outset shooting in the Boseong Tea farm & Calla resort which makes me feel transported to the place at once.The sceneries are so beautiful that now i've decided to visit those places when i visit Korea in the future.The location beautifully camoufloughes with the story which seems to move slowly without any hurry.The best part is that it isn't intense from the beginning unlike a'winter Sonata'.Of course,this isn't for people who are looking for intense drama and romance.The story flows slowly like a summer wind.
This drama is the 3rd installment of the 'endless love' series,which came after the hugely sucessful 'Winter Sonata' & hence expectations were high.According to me,this drama fulfills my reqirements and expectations.Here Also same basic plot is followed in this drama:the leads being each other's first love (with a slight difference which after watching it you will know),seperation after short time,fate making them again complicated love triangles,beautiful breathtaking scenery,lovely songs and a perfect love story.But the one thing i was having a little problem was the ending:even though the director wanted to make it poetic and memorable but instead i found it a bit dissapointing.But it doesn't mean that the drama isn't good enough!The drama is best for die-hard romantics who are looking for etermal love stories.So i reccomend to go for it.

Characters
Now about the characters:
Song Seung Hun returns as the main protaganist after 'Autumn In My Heart' in this series and portrays his character the strong,casual and yet surprisingly romantic Yoo Min Woo with utmost hard work and determination which can be seen.Even though when i first came across the poster of summer scent and saw his look i was disguisted but then when i saw the drama,i absolutely fell in love with his character and his looks as he surprisingly appears handsome .
About Son Ye Jin,the only adjective is 'romantically beautiful'.She is the fresh cool breeze of this drama.Her screen presence is so much that when she comes on screen the only one seen will be her.Her eternal,sweet and charming beauty is shown at its best.She potrays the shy,mature,innocent and beautiful Hae Won,the perfect romantic character in the story.She also plays her role superbly.
Her onscreen fiance,the reserved,caring,gentleman and yet possesive Jung Jae is portrayed by actor Ryu Jin whom i came across the first time.he plays his character too with great skills.In the beginning the character seems to be very posoitive but as the story approaches i was surprised myself as it began to become a negative despite his niceness.
His sister,Jung Ah is played by Han Ji Hye who is herself now a big korean wave star.Her character,the casual,naive,immature and stylish Jung Ah is also portrayed with great skills.Even the character mostly appears to be negative at the beginning despite her sweetness,yet her positive side is revealed in a surprising way.So overall the characters are portrayed very well.

Fashion Quotient[FQ]
FQ for this drama was purely pastels.The fashion sense of each character desribed their personalities fully.
Yoo Min Woo:He was a man of strength & thoughts.The highlighted hair surely made him look different & foreign with his muscles reaping off from his colourful shirts.He surely looked in a strange way very very handsome.
Shim Hae Won:She had the perfect look for her personalilty.She was surely graceful even wearing the conservative dresses in pastels,colourful flowy skirts & tops.Her floral print tops looked gorgeous.For half of the episodes she had natural refreshing and yet beautifyl curls and for the other half sweet and stylish straightened hair.She surely looked innocent and gorgeous in the same breath.
Park Jung Jae:The gentleman fitted best in crisp formal shirts and suits which made him look very handsome.The look really suited his character very well.
Park Jung Ah:The stylish diva of the series with coloured curl hair in fashionable mini skirts,textured tight fitted pants,sleeveless spageties and beautiful handbags surely made a fashion impact.

Original Sound Track

One Word for this:romantic.The OST of Summer Scent is my fave k-drama ost ever.The songs are so good that it will tranport anyone to the tea farms & Calla resort.Most of the songs in the ost are used in the series except some.All The songs are either sung by 'Seo Jin Young'or'Jung In Ho' whom i absolutely love.If this ost is available in the market i would reccommend to buy the original one because its really worth it.But in India its still now available so i couldn't buy the original one which i wished i could because sometimes somethings are special and this ost is one of them.THe OST being absolutely fabulously will be anyones everyone's favourite.Of course there are some piano tunes in the drama will are not in the ost which will catch your attention.I will make sure to list them.
My Fave Songs From 'Summer Scent'

1.Doo Bun Jae Sarang(Second Love):This is my fave track from the ost which is played in the most romantic scene of the drama:The dancing scene of Min Woo & Hae Won in the football ground.
2.Bi Mil(Secret):This is the main theme of the series which is used hugely in the drama.This is also one of the best tracks & my fave tracks from the Ost.
3.Sarang handa Myun(If Its Love):This track is not used in the series but its piano instrumental is used(included in the overseas OST)This is such a gooda good duet by the lead singers-Seo Jin Young & Jung In Ho.One of the best tracks.I don't know why but it gives me a feeling of a perfect rain song.
4.Love:This was the first track of the ost which caught my attention.A very sweet yet very peppy song.
5.Serenade:Schubert's classic plays most of the time in the series.This track really makes us feel the beauty & sadness of the situation.This song is described in the drama as Hae Won's Fave song(Also Un-Nae's)

Also all the instrumentals in the ost are absolutely adorable and sweet.In short I love all The tracks of the ost.

Fave Scenes
1.The Tea Farm Scene:

This is the scene where both Min Woo & Hae Won are wondering about in the green tea hills without knowing about each other's presence.And then suddenly Min Woo hears Un-Hae call out his name and so when he turns around he sees Hae won standing.Their eyes meet with a subtle recognition and 'Bi Mil' playing in the background creating a different and powerful mood.The scene next shifts to both of them walking in the road with the tea gardens in the background.He asks her whether she called his name when she says she didn't as she doesn't know his name.
2.The Forest Scene:This is the first encounter between Min Woo & Hae Won in the forest while she gets lost and he is there for camping.The whole encounter is both sweet and funny at times.
3.Dance in The football Field:This is the most romantic scene of the series.They both dance in the football ground with so much innocence that it melts your heart.


4.Fun in summer scene:This is the scene in episode 5 where all of them enjoy the summer by playing football and various other games.It shows the fun of summer.

For all the die-hard romantics i recommend to see it as they will thoroughly enjoy it!!
